Deputy Manager

Job Introduction

Are you ready to make a meaningful impact in people’s lives?

We’re looking for an experienced, confident and values-led Deputy Manager to join our brand-new team at Elizabeth Close in Oldland Common. This bespoke supported living service will support adults with learning disabilities, autism and complex needs as they move out of specialist hospitals or secure environments and take their next steps towards living safely and independently in the community.

This is a rare opportunity to help shape a brand-new service from the ground up, and play a leading role in supporting individuals with complex needs to grow and thrive.

 About Oldland Common

Oldland Common is a newly built development offering six self-contained homes for adults aged 18 and over. The service is designed for people with high levels of complexity, including behaviours that challenge, communication differences, autism, learning disabilities, mental health needs and, in some cases, forensic histories.

Our aim is to support people to resettle successfully into the community, develop independence, build meaningful routines and live safe, fulfilling lives. Support is typically delivered on a 1:1 or 2:1 basis, depending on the needs of each individual.

 About the role

As the Deputy Manager, you’ll play a key role in the day-to-day running of the service, supporting the Registered Manager and helping lead a team that provides safe, structured and person-centred support. You’ll help ensure high-quality practice, strong communication and a consistent approach across the staff team.

 Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the Registered Manager with the daily operational running of the service
  • Leading, supervising and developing staff to deliver high-quality, person-centred support
  • Ensuring Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) approaches are embedded in everyday practice
  • Contributing to assessments, risk management and support planning
  • Overseeing rota planning, shift coordination and staff allocation
  • Supporting MDT communication, family involvement and partnership working
  • Ensuring accurate documentation, incident reporting and governance requirements
  • Helping maintain a safe, structured and enabling environment for residents and staff

This is a full-time role of 40 hours per week, offering £34,000 per annum.

Shifts may include occasional evenings, weekends or on-call duties depending on service need.

 What we’re looking for

To ensure the right leadership for this complex and specialist service, applicants must have:

  • Experience supporting adults with learning disabilities and/or autism
  • Experience working with behaviours that challenge or complex risks
  • Experience leading or supervising staff in a care or supported living setting
  • A Level 3 qualification in Positive Behaviour Support (PBS), or a willingness to work towards this as part of the role

 We’re also looking for:

  • A calm, confident and resilient approach
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to model and uphold PBS-informed practice
  • Confidence overseeing complex support plans and risk assessments
  • A proactive, organised and solution-focused mindset
  • Willingness to work closely with the Registered Manager and wider MDT
  • A Full UK Driving Licence

Why join us?

You’ll be joining a values-led organisation at the start of an exciting new service. As Deputy Manager at Oldland Common, you’ll play a central role in supporting people to leave hospital and build safer, happier futures in the community.

We offer:

  • Salary of £34,000 per annum
  • Company pension
  • Refer-a-friend bonus (earn up to £1,000)
  • Full training, including Positive Behaviour Support
  • Opportunities for career progression
  • Blue Light Card (discounts in shops and restaurants)
  • A caring, collaborative culture where every voice matters
  • Job security, flexibility and ongoing support
