Commercial Director

Job Introduction

Agincare is one of the UK’s largest and most respected independent social care providers. With a legacy of compassionate care, innovation, and community impact, we continue to grow and evolve — and we’re looking for a Commercial Director to help lead us into our next exciting chapter.

The Role

As our Commercial Director, you will take strategic ownership of five critical corporate functions: Estates, Facilities, Bids, Legal, and Procurement. Reporting directly to the CEO, this role will shape and deliver our commercial operations, ensuring they are robust, cost-effective, compliant, and future-proof.

You will play a pivotal role in supporting Agincare’s mission by ensuring our resources, assets, and partnerships are aligned to deliver exceptional service outcomes across our care homes, domiciliary services, live-in care, and supported living.

Key Responsibilities

Estates & Facilities Management:
Oversee the strategic and operational management of our nationwide property portfolio. Lead investment, refurbishment, and sustainability strategies across a large and varied property estate.

Bids & Business Growth:
Champion major contract and tender submissions, ensuring win strategies align with our values and market opportunities. Drive cross-functional collaboration to support sustainable growth.

Legal Oversight:
Manage legal risk and compliance across the business. Liaise with internal stakeholders and external legal partners to protect Agincare’s interests.

Procurement Strategy:
Lead the procurement function to deliver cost-effective, ethical, and high-quality sourcing strategies, balancing innovation with fiscal responsibility.

Leadership:
Build and lead high-performing teams across each of the directorate’s pillars. Promote a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement.

About You

You are a commercially astute leader with a proven track record in managing complex operations across multiple domains, ideally within a regulated environment. You thrive on aligning operational delivery with strategic goals and can influence at board level.

Essential:

  • Senior-level experience in commercial, estates, procurement, or legal operations
  • Experience managing a large, diverse property portfolio
  • Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams and navigating complex stakeholder environments
  • Experience within the health and social care, not-for-profit, or housing sectors
  • Demonstrated ability to work with or within Local Authorities
  • Strong contract, tendering, and negotiation skills
  • Strategic thinking with hands-on delivery capability
  • A solid understanding of Care Quality Commission (CQC) regulations is advantageous
  • A passion for social care or purpose-led sectors is a plus
